I intend to focus on these applications:
1. FastStone (Free) Image Viewer / Editor https://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm
Rich Isaacman, who gave the March talk on travel photography, says this is his go-to image editor. It’s fast, simple. effective, and handles RAW flawlessly. Runs from a flash drive, so you can take it with you after all. It has gazillions of great features, but, alas, it’s Windows only.
2. Affinity Photo https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/photo/full-feature-list/ Full-featured, affordable ($50 list, often $40, free updates) alternative to PhotoShop. Windows, Mac, iPad. Uses PhotoShop plugins like Nik collection. Can use but does not require fancy GPUs.
3. digiKam, a great free alternative to Lightroom https://www.digikam.org/ Windows, Mac, Linux. I’ll add to this teaser later.
4. digiCamControl http://digicamcontrol.com/ Windows only. Despite the near name collision with #3, this is a very different product. Control your camera settings remotely from your Windows PC via USB or WiFi. LiveView, focus and review shots (including RAW) on your PC screen. Automate focus stacking, time-lapse and astronomy shots. Did I mention it’s free?Location: Harriett Brown Community Center, 901 Dares Beach Rd, Prince Frederick, MD 20678
