About Us

Club Bylaws

The Calvert Photography Club began informally in January of 2010 after Sandy Carr began contacting members of a previously disbanded local photography club about forming a new group. A small group of volunteers led by Allen Barth began developing the newly formed group's bylaws. On March 27, 2010 the Calvert Photography Club officially adopted its first bylaws.

But what are bylaws and why are they important? In short bylaws are a formal written document that attempts to answer several questions about an organization such as:

  • Who is involved in the group?
  • What are the function of various members in the group?
  • Where was the group formed and where do we meet?
  • When does the group meet?
  • Why was the group formed?
  • How is the group governed?

These questions define the boundaries of our organization. They help to ensure that we know who we are as an organization and that we stay true to our original intention. This does not mean that we cannot expand the scope of the bylaws or evolve as an organization, but it gives us direction.

If you are interested in learning more about how we work please feel free to join us at a meeting. If you want to know the details of our organization please feel free to download our bylaws and remember your feedback is always welcome.
