One of the counties in the state of Maryland, and home to the Calvert Photography Club, Calvert County is a peninsula bounded by the Chesapeake Bay on the east and the Patuxent River on the west. Calvert County was established in 1654, and is one of the oldest counties in the United States. Native American people lived in Calvert County over 9,000 years ago, according to evidence unearthed by archaeologists at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum.
Today steep cliffs and woods predominate the bay side of the county while along the Patuxent river, rolling fields slope down gently towards the river. The County’s many creeks provide refuge for wildlife as well as scenic areas for boating and fishing. Calvert County is a beautiful place to live and of course photograph. In this photo gallery we feature some pictures from around the county.
